ABOUT MY EDUCATION |
I grew up in the Annapolis Valley graduating from King’s-Edgehill School. I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2000, from Bishop’s University, in Quebec. I continued my education in Halifax at ICT™Northumberland College (2200hour Diploma) to become a Registered Massage Therapist in 2002. I launched my career following graduation with King’s Physiotherapy Clinic, a well-established multidisciplinary clinic, located in New Minas. At King’s, my practice included private claims, WCB (Worker’s Compensation Board) and MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) claims. During this first year of practice I started developing Blue Horizon Massage.
In 2008, after my second son was born, I decided to make a change and started working with Sarah Hayes at Kingsport Osteopathy Clinic, and allocating more hours to be spent practicing from my home business. I joined the team at Valley Massage Therapy Clinic (VMTC) in Kentville in November of 2009 and in 2016 took a leap of faith and became the proud new owner. Until July 2022, I worked between BHM and VMTC. Over the years I have taken courses to enhance my skills in pregnancy massage, TMJ dysfunction (jaw pain), joint mobilizations, cupping, and deep tissue massage, fascial techniques and IASTM. In 2007, I took on a new approach to my practice and started taking courses to become certified in Dr. Vodder’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). This is an amazing technique that enables me to give more effective treatments to individuals who are suffering from Lymphedemas, inflammation, stress, sensitivities, burns and toxins. I am enjoying working with the MLD techniques and I look forward to working more intensely with acute injuries, post-surgery, and the above mentioned conditions. I enjoy working with children and in this regard I would like to help educate young athletes, and their parents, about the benefits of massage therapy and how it can enhance their children’s performance and health. |
About ME |
I grew up on a poultry and apple farm in Canning, 15 minutes from Kentville. I was privileged to be able to try numerous different activities such as pony club, golf, school sports, skiing, painting and music. I presently enjoy weight training, jogging, golfing, hiking, kayaking, reading and spending time with my husband, sons and animals. I hope to expose my children to the possibilities of the world through sports, education, art, and to the diversity of people and society.
